Destined for Victory: The Birth of Porsche and the Story of the First International Win

An approachable and graphic history of Porsche.

The Birth of Porsche and the Story of the First International Win is an illustrated and approachable history of Porsche from the birth of Ferdinand, through his many engineering accomplishments, the birth and coming of age of his son Ferry, the development of the Porsche TYP 356, and ultimately Porsche's record-setting class win at the 1951 24 hours of LeMans.

This special Anniversary Edition includes two bonus items: An original art print celebrating Porsche's very first victory at Le Mans – and an illustrated reproduction, translated to English for the first time – of the very first SL brochure. This brochure was created by Porsche to qualify the SL's as production cars at LeMans.

About the book: From setting records in the first hybrid cars in 1900 to their unmatched record of 19 overall and 108 class wins at Le Mans, the Porsche story is one of inventiveness, discipline, and resilience. This is the story of the foundation of the Porsche tradition – culminating in the first victory at Le Mans.

It's the latest book from Dwight Knowlton, 8 time American Graphic Design Award winner, and recipient of two IAMAs (International Automotive Media Awards) for his first book The Little Red Racing Car (a book called "the Best Kids' Car Book Ever by Yahoo! ™ Autos).
